The Next Step, Inc. is proud to announce that it has been approved as an official vendor for the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program. This designation allows us to expand our mission of providing individuals and families with access to the technology they need to support education, communication, and independence.
About the TEFA Program
In 2025, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 2 and provided $1 billion in funding to create the Texas Education Freedom Accounts™ (TEFA) program, giving parents greater freedom and flexibility in choosing the best educational environment for their children.
Administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the TEFA program allows parents who enroll their children outside of the public school system — including in a private school or homeschool setting — to use their child's TEFA funds for approved education-related expenses through the program marketplace.
Additional information about the TEFA program is available at https://educationfreedom.texas.gov.
